is that a statement and a question?
ReplyDeleteIs sin really cut and dry like that? Sometimes thats the way we read it but is that really true?
1. Hypocrisy is a big one - people who proclaim to be Christians, but who do everything non-Christians do in life and excuse it by saying it's a different time and biblical rules don't apply anymore. Also annoyed by churches that don't call these folks out on this. We can't condone that because the young people see it and emulate it. It's NOT OK.
ReplyDelete2. Church leadership that runs the church like a corporation, leaving the principles of the bible behind when it comes to money matters.
3. Pastors who are caught up in fancy clothes, cars and things and who compete to be better than other pastors. Totally unbiblical.
If everyone knows the church has hypocrisy as an obstacle are there any solutions? It seems that this criticism is the default criticism but the real question is what are we doing to contribute or not contribute to this stereotype?
ReplyDeleteSomeone let me know
Learn to listen.
ReplyDeleteI just realized that I posted after you asked another question you about hypocrisy; my listening statement is in response to your original post...
ReplyDeleteThe biggest advice I would give to the church is to teach LOVE in its fullest expression. As a body of believers I believe we MUST learn to love each other how Jesus demonstrates love to us.
ReplyDeleteSuggestions for the Church...
ReplyDelete1. We should remember Church is about fellowship with believers and enhancing your relationshp with God through Christ
2. We must have unconditional love for all. This doesn't mean you have to agree with the things people say and do, but you need to be willing to love those people. Everyday we do something that wrongs Jesus, but He loves us anyway. Are we greater than Jesus, that we cannot strive to do the same thing? I think we all far short of giving unconditional love consistently.
3. Theology should not be presented from the ivory tower; it needs to be something people can understand (at all levels)
4. Jesus was a man of action; we are required to do the same. We are to be a beacon of light toward the injustices of the world.
enjoying the suggestions keep them coming
